Meeting of more Helmericks family and another book!
So over the years I have only to have talked and met with Bud, Martha and thier son Jeff. As always I do a little research every time I blog to see if I can find another bit of info on Bud and his family and life in the Arctic. Well the other night I ran across a web page http://www.goldenplover.org/index.html which is a family website for Jim and Teena Helmericks. I have since contacted them and been able to exchange a couple of emails with them. Also their son Isaac is on Facebook and and we have become Facebook friends along with his father-in-law Duane.
During my research on the web I also ran across another book by Bud called Arctic Bush Pilot small hard cover about a fellow named Bob Hamilton delivering a Cessna 170 up to the Arctic to Andy Willington. Not I am not 100% sure but it may be the delivery of Buds 170. All the Illustrations are by Bud and they are of his Cessna 170 N2348D. I will have to do some research and find out. He does have a map in the front of the book, so I can use this to follow the route that was taken on his journey. (I will use my current sectionals of course!)
I am really starting to get pumped about taking this journey now! Getting to know more of the Helmericks is definitely adding to the excitment!
